January 2024 in Western Washington

Happy New Year! Compared to the past two months which was kind of overloaded with festive events, January is looking pretty low key. Here are a few fun things to check out this month:

The Sundance Festival Short Film Tour is in Seattle from January 3-27. They’re set to announce Bellingham dates soon, as well.

The Plant-Based Junk Food pop-up at Lucky Envelope brewing runs from 1:00-5:00 on January 6. That’s right – a vegan junk food fest in Ballard.

The Book of Mormon is at the Paramount from January 9-14! I saw this gem in Chicago a few years ago and highly recommend.

MLK Day is Monday, January 14. Seattle Colleges is putting on their 51st annual Community Celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. on the Friday before (1/21).

Monster Jam is back! Check it out from January 12-14 at the Tacoma Dome.
On a related note, X-treame International Ice Racing returns to Everett on January 26.

January 15 is the first Free Entrance Day of the year at our National Parks

Jan 26-29: The Fremont Soupocalypse is exactly what it sounds like – a massive soup festival that takes place in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle. 15 of Fremont’s restaurants will offer different soup and allow you to collect soup stamps in your soup passport. Get at least eight stamps for a free tasting, shot glass, and bag of local treats from Mischief Distillery.

The Seattle Kraken are playing home games throughout the month, but if you want to save a few (er, a hundred) dollars on your hockey tickets, you can also check out the Seattle Thunderbirds or the Everett Silvertips. They even play each other in Everett on January 6!

If you’re a Car Guy, America’s Car Museum in Tacoma has a Porsche exhibit through the month of January.

There are two fun expos this month: The Annual Wedding Show comes to Seattle January 27-28 and the Tacoma Home and Garden Show is at the Tacoma Dome January 25-28.

Finally, a lot of the Seattle Farmers Markets are year round including Ballard, Fremont, University District, and Capitol Hill.
